Bhopal Municipal Corporation Approves Green Bond Plan Amid Ruckus
In Bhopal, a meeting of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) got quite heated.
Members were upset about how some people were hired and moved around in the city government.
They wanted more transparency.
Despite the arguments, the meeting approved a big financial plan to borrow ₹200 crore through Green Bonds, which will help the city with its projects.
The meeting also talked about other things like canceling a building project, leasing a lake for fishing, and changing some fees.
Meanwhile, the city had to lower the price of land in the Bhauri area after the High Court got involved because the original increase was too high.
A ruckus erupted at the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) meeting over appointments and transfers, with members demanding more transparency.
The BMC approved a ₹200 crore Green Bond plan to fund projects under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, entitling them to a ₹20 crore rebate from the Central Government.
A proposal to cancel a tender for a residential-cum-commercial high-rise project was kept on hold.
The council decided to invite tenders for leasing out Upper Lake (Bada Talab) for fish farming as per the Fisheries Policy, 2008.
The BMC also agreed to revise marriage registration fees to reduce the burden on citizens.
