Drishyam: The Conclusion Writer Discusses the Franchise’s Final Film
Aamil Keeyan Khan wrote the screenplay for Drishyam: The Conclusion.
He said the makers wanted this movie to feel like the end of the story.
Writing it was difficult because viewers already know how Vijay Salgaonkar thinks.
Khan wanted the film to surprise people while keeping the things they liked about the earlier movies.
He says he worked through more than 100 drafts.
The filmmakers also kept the climax secret from many people working on the film.
Khan described Ajay Devgn as very quick-minded.
He said Devgn could pause a conversation about another movie, perform a scene, and then return to the conversation.
Screenwriter Aamil Keeyan Khan says the film was intended to feel like a genuine conclusion, with no setup for a further sequel.
Khan says writing an original story while preserving the franchise’s humor, family, emotion, drama and thrills was a major challenge.
He estimates that the script went through well over 100 drafts in different forms.
Director-producer Abhishek limited access to the climax and shared information with crew members on a need-to-know basis.
Khan praised Ajay Devgn’s quick shifts between discussing another project and performing as Vijay Salgaonkar.
