Ahmedabad Land Prices Soar, Forcing Kandla Port to Surrender Plot
In Ahmedabad, land prices in the Vadaj area increased dramatically in ten years, causing a problem for Deendayal Port Trust (DPT).
DPT was supposed to build something on land they got in 2010 but didn't.
When the city valued the land again, the price was much higher.
DPT couldn't afford to pay the difference or build on the land, so they gave the land back to the city (AMC).
The city will give back some money to DPT after taking out expenses.
Land prices in Ahmedabad's western areas increased over 15 times in a decade.
Deendayal Port Trust (DPT) surrendered a plot in Vadaj to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
The plot was originally allocated in 2010 for Rs 14,000 per sq m and revalued in 2020 at Rs 2,15,927 per sq m.
DPT faced a massive financial burden after the revaluation in 2020.
DPT failed to fulfill the land agreement's construction requirement within two years.
