DRDO Saves Rs 2,64,156 Crore via Indigenous Research: Panel
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in India has saved a huge amount of money, over Rs 2,64,156 crore, by doing its own research and development over the last five years.
This money was saved because they didn't have to buy certain technologies from other countries.
The DRDO has also achieved some important milestones, like testing a long-range hypersonic anti-ship missile and a technology that allows a single missile to hit multiple targets.
Additionally, they have developed a new air defence system and a portable anti-tank missile.
The parliamentary panel also noted that the DRDO is working on improving pension disbursement for defence personnel through a system called SPARSH.
DRDO saved Rs 2,64,156 crore through indigenous research over five years.
Achieved milestones in hypersonic technologies and missile development.
Successfully tested a long-range hypersonic anti-ship missile in November 2024.
Developed and tested MIRV technology using Agni ballistic missile in March 2024.
Indigenously developed and tested Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) and Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile.
