CoinSwitch Parent Company Reports More Than Double Net Loss in FY25
Imagine a company that helps people trade digital coins, like a special kind of stock market.
For the past year, this company, called CoinSwitch, and its parent company, Chain Labs, lost a lot more money than the year before.
Even though more people used their service and they made more money from trading, their costs went up even faster.
This was partly because they spent a lot more on things like advertising and also had to account for money they might need to help customers affected by a hack on another crypto service called WazirX.
They are trying to get money back from WazirX for these issues, and a court has ordered WazirX to provide some money to CoinSwitch.
The company also has other businesses, like one for investing in regular stocks.
CoinSwitch's parent company, Chain Labs, saw its net loss increase by 108% to $37.6 million in FY25.
Revenue from operations for CoinSwitch surged by 219% to $14.6 million in FY25.
Total costs and expenses for the company rose by 55% to $59.2 million in FY25.
The company recognized a contingent liability of $11.2 million related to a recovery program for users affected by the WazirX cyberheist.
Business promotion expenses saw a significant increase of 1,963% to $11.7 million in FY25.
