Court Reprimands Lokayukta for MUDA Case Delay
A court in Bengaluru was upset because the Lokayukta, which is like a watchdog for corruption, didn't finish their report on time about a land case involving the Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah.
The court wanted the final report by December 18, but the Lokayukta only gave a partial report.
They said they were waiting for permission to prosecute some people involved.
An activist complained that the investigation wasn't done properly and that the authorities were trying to protect the people accused.
The court couldn't make any decisions without the final report, so they postponed the case to December 23.
Earlier, the Lokayukta had said there wasn't enough evidence to prove anything against Siddaramaiah and others.
The case is about land that was given to the Chief Minister's wife in a nice area of Mysuru, which some people think was unfair.
The Special Court for People’s Representatives expressed displeasure with the Lokayukta for not filing the final investigation report in the MUDA land site allotment case involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The Lokayukta submitted an interim report instead of the final report, citing the delay due to awaiting prosecution sanction against certain officials.
The court adjourned the matter to December 23, 2024, as it could not pass any order without the final investigation report.
Activist Snehamayi Krishna alleged that the investigation was not conducted properly and accused the authorities of shielding the accused.
The Lokayukta Police had earlier given a clean chit to Siddaramaiah and others, stating that the allegations against them were not proven due to lack of evidence.
