Jana Nayagan Makers May Appeal Supreme Court
Vijay's film Jana Nayagan was supposed to come out on January 9, but it didn't get permission from the censor board.
The filmmakers took the issue to court, and a single judge initially ordered the censor board to give the film a U/A 16+ certificate.
However, a higher court in the Madras High Court said that the single judge should not have made that decision without hearing the censor board's side.
The censor board has now asked the Supreme Court to hear them if the filmmakers decide to appeal.
The filmmakers are considering their options, which include asking the censor board to look at the film again or solving the problem without going to court.
The Supreme Court has said that the high court should decide the matter quickly.
This is important because Jana Nayagan is supposed to be Vijay's last film, and everyone is waiting to see what happens next.
Jana Nayagan's release was postponed due to lack of certification from the censor board.
The Madras High Court set aside a single judge's order directing the censor board to issue a U/A 16+ certificate.
The censor board has filed a caveat in the Supreme Court to be heard before any order is passed.
The filmmakers are considering their options, including appealing to the Supreme Court or seeking an administrative solution.
The Supreme Court has directed the high court to dispose of the matter promptly.
