Ludhiana MC Acquires Key Property for Shaheed Sukhdev Corridor
The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has finally taken control of a very important piece of land.
This land was blocking the way to the house where Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar, a famous freedom fighter, was born.
Sukhdev, along with his friends Bhagat Singh and Rajguru, was hanged by the British in 1931.
The trust that takes care of Sukhdev’s house has been asking for a long time to make a direct path to the house so more people can visit.
The area is very crowded, and the house is hidden behind many buildings.
The city has now paid the owners of these buildings and taken control of the land to make this path.
Ludhiana Municipal Corporation took possession of a key property blocking access to Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar’s ancestral house.
The ancestral house is located in the congested Naughara Mohalla of Ludhiana’s Old City.
Sukhdev Thapar, along with Bhagat Singh and Rajguru, was hanged by the British on March 23, 1931.
The Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust has been demanding a direct corridor to the house for years.
The MC has paid compensation to the owners to acquire the properties blocking the direct path.
