Himachal Court Denies Bail to Man Accused of Assaulting Toddler
A 61-year-old man was accused of hurting a 3-year-old child.
The court said no to letting him out of jail because what he did was very bad and he broke the trust of the child's parents.
The judge said that because the man was much older and the parents trusted him to take care of the child, his actions were very serious.
The court also said that some differences in what the child's mother said were not enough to change their decision.
The Himachal Pradesh High Court denied bail to a 61-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 3-year-old child.
Justice Rakesh Kainthla cited the heinous nature of the crime and the breach of trust as reasons for denying bail.
The court noted that the significant age difference between the accused and the victim, along with the trust reposed by the victim's parents, made the offense particularly heinous.
Variations in the victim's mother's statement were deemed insufficient to grant bail to the petitioner.
The case was dealt with under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
