Priyanka Gandhi Flags Youth Job Crisis, Citing 40-Year High

Congress leaders say many young people in India are having trouble finding jobs.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said unemployment is now at its highest level in 40 years.

She connected youth frustration and student protests to problems in education and a lack of new jobs.

She also said manufacturing and small businesses have not received enough attention.

She argued that some policies are hurting small businesses and agriculture, which employ many people.

A NITI Aayog report estimated that 8.7 crore people aged 15 to 29 were not studying, working or receiving training.

The report said training should be made more affordable and connected to local and new types of work.

Mallikarjun Kharge cited high unemployment rates, especially among young women.

The government’s response to these criticisms was not included in the articles.
