Perseid Meteor Shower: Expected August Display in India
Every year, Earth passes through a cloud of space dust left by a comet, creating the Perseid meteor shower!
This year, it will be most visible on August 12 and 13.
You might see lots of bright streaks of light as the dust burns up in our atmosphere.
Up to 100 meteors could be seen each hour!
The moon will make it a bit harder to see the fainter ones, but many bright ones will still shine.
If you're in India, look up after midnight on August 13 in a dark spot, and you might see a great show!
The Perseid meteor shower will peak on the nights of August 12 and 13.
The shower is caused by Earth passing through debris from comet Swift–Tuttle.
Up to 100 meteors per hour may be visible under ideal conditions.
The waning gibbous Moon will reduce visibility somewhat.
Viewers in India can see the shower, especially post-midnight on August 13.
