Cauvery Water Reaches Upper Anicut, But Irrigation Concerns Rise

Cauvery Water Reaches Upper Anicut, But Irrigation Concerns Rise

Water was released from the Mettur dam to help farmers in the Cauvery delta grow crops.

The release began on September 1 after the dam had enough water stored.

However, much less water reached the Upper Anicut at Mukkombu.

Officials released the available 1,500 cusecs toward Kallanai.

They expected the water flow to improve gradually.

The water was expected to reach Kallanai on Saturday.

Irrigation systems might begin receiving it on Sunday.

Experts warned that the amount was far too small to properly supply all the canals and farms.
