GHMC Closes Window for Delimitation Objections
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has stopped taking complaints about how they are dividing the city into different areas.
They received over 5,900 complaints.
Now, they will look at these complaints and decide the final boundaries for the 300 areas in the city.
This is important because the boundaries will stay the same for a year for the 2026 census.
Some people, like the corporators and resident groups, are not happy with the changes.
For example, the Shaikpet area is being split in a confusing way, and the Monda Market area is not including places that should be part of it.
They hope the GHMC will make changes to make things fairer.
The GHMC has closed the window for objections on the preliminary ward delimitation notification, receiving 5,905 objections and suggestions.
The final notification is expected by December 31, the day the boundaries of all administrative units will be frozen for Census 2026.
The delimitation exercise has caused concerns among corporators and resident welfare associations, with some areas being split or included in unexpected divisions.
For instance, Shaikpet ward is proposed to be split into two, with OU Colony being part of Shaikpet division and Shaikpet village being part of OU Colony division.
Residents and corporators have expressed their dissatisfaction with the proposed changes, hoping the GHMC will consider their objections.
