Four-Year-Old Bhopal Convention Centre Faces ₹12 Crore Repairs
The Ravindra Convention Centre in Bhopal is a large building used for meetings and cultural events.
It opened on Republic Day in 2022.
Building it cost ₹48 crore, more than the original planned cost of ₹33 crore.
Since it opened, the building has needed repairs costing at least ₹12 crore.
Its roof started leaking, and rainwater damaged parts of the walls.
Some ceiling panels also fell off.
Sculptures in the garden were not properly maintained and some parts were removed to stop them from breaking.
The centre has a large auditorium and many other rooms for events.
At least ₹12 crore has been spent repairing Bhopal’s Ravindra Convention Centre since its inauguration in 2022.
The ₹48-crore centre was originally planned for ₹33 crore and completion by November 2018.
Roof leaks, damp walls and falling false-ceiling panels reportedly appeared within two years of inauguration.
₹6 crore was spent on repairs last year, with another ₹6 crore sanctioned this year.
The centre includes Madhya Pradesh’s largest auditorium, with seating for 1,500 people, along with several other facilities.
