India Invites Bids for 30-Tonne Gold Import Quota
The Indian government has asked companies to apply for a chance to import 30 tonnes of gold.
This is part of a special agreement between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The agreement allows certain amounts of gold to be imported with lower taxes.
The government will decide who gets to import the gold based on a competition.
This is the first time they are doing this for the year 2025-26.
They will announce when the next competition will be after this one is finished.
DGFT invites bids for the first round of 30-tonne gold import quota under India-UAE CEPA for 2025-26.
Allocation of TRQ for gold will be based on a competitive bidding/tender process.
Total quantity restricted to 30 tonnes in the current round of allocations.
Next round of allocations will be announced after the conclusion of this round.
Imports under TRQ allow specified goods at reduced duty up to a certain quantity.
