BMC Uses Sion CT Part to Restore Jogeshwari Trauma Scanner
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had a problem: the CT scanner at Jogeshwari Trauma Hospital was broken and patients had to go to other hospitals.
BMC found a spare part from an old CT scanner at Sion Hospital that was no longer working.
They used that part to fix the broken scanner at Jogeshwari.
The repair was done carefully with experts watching.
Now the scanner works again, so patients can get scans at the right hospital.
This helped especially during the rainy season when many people need emergency care.
BMC used a spare part from a non‑functional CT scanner at Sion Hospital to repair a similar machine at Jogeshwari Trauma Hospital.
The Sion Hospital CT scanner had been in service for eight years, was no longer under warranty, and was slated for scrapping.
Jogeshwari Trauma Hospital’s CT scanner had been out of service for almost four months, causing 25–30 patients a day to be referred elsewhere.
The temporary fix was carried out under technical supervision and was described by BMC as a public‑interest decision to minimise patient care disruption.
The repair restored CT services at Jogeshwari, easing the burden on trauma patients, especially during the monsoon season.
