India's Core Infrastructure Output Jumps 5% in June
India's important industries, like making cement, electricity, and mining iron ore, grew a lot in June.
This is the biggest growth in five months.
The government changed how they measure this growth to use newer data and added iron ore to the list of important industries.
Some other industries, like oil and gas, didn't do as well and shrank.
This growth is good news because it shows that these important industries are doing better than last year.
India's core infrastructure sectors grew by 5% in June, the highest in five months.
Cement and electricity production each increased by 9.8%, while iron ore production surged by 43.9%.
The government updated the base year for the index to 2022-23 and added iron ore as a new sector.
Crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, and fertiliser sectors experienced a decline in production.
For the April-June 2026-27 quarter, the key sectors expanded by 3.6%, up from 1% in the previous year.
