Telangana High Court Orders Police Notice to BRS Convenor
Manne Krishank, who works with the BRS party’s social media team, asked the Telangana High Court for protection from arrest.
The case is about social media posts concerning Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s daughter and alleged property and pharma business interests.
A complainant alleged that Krishank shared false claims about her.
The court told Hyderabad police to give Krishank a formal notice before taking further action.
It also told him to cooperate with the investigation.
Krishank’s lawyer said police had not held a preliminary inquiry before registering the case and alleged that plainclothes officers were near his home.
The court referred to Supreme Court rulings on police procedure and when an FIR may be registered.
The government opposed protection from arrest, saying the investigation was still at an early stage.
The Telangana High Court directed Hyderabad police to issue Manne Krishank a notice before taking further action in the case.
The notice is to be issued under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Krishank was told to cooperate with the investigation.
The case followed an October 5 complaint alleging Krishank shared false social media claims about Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s daughter and her alleged property and pharma interests.
Krishank’s lawyer argued the FIR was registered without a preliminary inquiry and said plainclothes police had allegedly been near Krishank’s residence.
The court referred to Supreme Court guidance in the Arnesh Kumar and Lalita Kumari cases; the government opposed protection from arrest, citing the investigation’s early stage.
