Nepal Awards Bank Note Printing Contract to Chinese Firm
Nepal has given a Chinese company the job to print new money.
This includes notes worth 50, 500, and 1,000 Nepalese rupees.
The new 1,000 rupee note will have seven rhododendrons, which are Nepal's national flower, and the signature of the current bank governor.
The Chinese company was chosen because they offered the lowest price and have printed Nepalese money before.
Nepal has also put a new map on its money that includes areas India says belong to it.
This has caused some arguments between the two countries.
Nepal Rastra Bank awarded a contract to China Bank Note Printing and Minting Corporation to print NRs 50, NRs 500, and NRs 1,000 bank notes.
The contract includes designing, printing, and supplying the bank notes within nine months.
The new NRs 1,000 note will feature seven rhododendrons and the signature of the current governor.
The Chinese company was selected based on the lowest evaluated bid and has previously printed other denominations of Nepalese banknotes.
Nepal's new Rs 100 notes feature a revised map including territories claimed by both Nepal and India.
