World AIDS Day: Awareness and Support
On World AIDS Day, a government official in India had breakfast with children who lost their parents to AIDS.
He told them not to be sad because they have support and can have a bright future.
The official said it's important to learn about AIDS and use condoms to stop the disease from spreading.
A group called Vasavya Mahila Mandali has been taking care of these children since 2003.
They give them a place to live, food, and help them go to college.
So far, they have helped over 3,000 children.
Many of these children have found jobs and are doing well.
Other important people from the community were also there to support the event.
Additionally, an awareness rally was held to spread information about AIDS prevention.
Cultural performances and school-level awareness initiatives were part of the event.
The officials also appreciated the efforts in reducing maternal mortality and expressed their commitment to making the district maternal-death-free.
NTR district collector G Lakshmisha assured orphaned children of support and encouraged them to pursue higher education.
The event was held to commemorate World AIDS Day and raise awareness about the disease.
