Indian Football Crisis: Sports Minister to Mediate ISL, I-League Deadlock
Imagine India's football leagues are like two teams that can't agree on the rules of a game.
One league, the ISL, has stopped playing because the people in charge can't find a new company to help run it after their old partner left.
The other league, the I-League, wants all the football leagues in India to have one boss to make things fair and wants their own games to start very soon.
They've even given a deadline!
Many football players are worried because they might lose their jobs if no games are played.
So, the country's Sports Minister is now going to meet with leaders from both leagues to try and sort out this big mess and get football back on the field.
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is scheduled to meet with ISL and I-League club representatives to address the ongoing deadlock in Indian football.
A meeting between AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey and ISL club CEOs failed to resolve the crisis, leading to the postponement of the ISL season.
I-League clubs are demanding a single 'common league partner' for all divisions and the immediate announcement and commencement of their season.
Top Indian footballers, including Sunil Chhetri and Sandesh Jhingan, have expressed deep concern over the potential impact on players' livelihoods.
The crisis stems from the AIFF's inability to secure a new commercial partner for the top league following the exit of FSDL.
