Drunk cop suspended after leaving service items outside BJP leader's house
A police officer named Subrata Mullick was supposed to guard the house of a BJP leader's family in Kolkata.
One night, he left his gun, camera, and uniform outside the house and didn't take them with him.
The family said he might have been drunk.
The police suspended him and started an investigation.
The family wanted important police officers to be present before they would give back the items.
The police later collected the items, and another officer was sent to guard the house.
Police constable Subrata Mullick left his service revolver, body camera, and uniform outside the home of BJP leader Avijit Sarkar’s family.
The family alleged Mullick was drunk and refused to return the items initially.
Mullick was suspended and a departmental inquiry was initiated.
The security detail was deployed to protect Biswajit Sarkar, a key witness in Avijit Sarkar's murder case.
The items were returned to the police on Friday evening after the family's demands were met.
