Ladakh to Establish DNA Testing for Pashmina Wool Purity

Ladakh to Establish DNA Testing for Pashmina Wool Purity

Ladakh's Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra has asked the Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department to set up a special lab to test Pashmina wool using DNA.

This is to make sure the wool is pure and of good quality.

The goal is to help the herders who raise the special goats that produce Pashmina wool.

They want to make the process better by using new technology and teaching the herders new skills.

They also want to study how other places, like Kashmir, do it to improve their methods.

The herders will get fair prices and better access to markets.

The plan is to make Ladakh Pashmina a top product in the world while helping the herders who are the original keepers of this special wool.
