L&T Targets US Nuclear Market
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is looking to enter the US nuclear market.
They have partnerships with two American companies, Holtec International and Clean Core Thorium Energy.
The Indian government recently passed a law called the SHANTI Act, which makes it easier for private companies to invest in nuclear energy.
L&T signed agreements with these companies to work on new nuclear technologies.
One agreement is about using a special fuel called thorium, which is safer and produces less waste.
The other agreement is about building equipment for nuclear and thermal power plants.
L&T's leader said they will figure out how to work together in the next few months.
This could open up new business opportunities for L&T in the US.
L&T aims to expand into the US nuclear market through partnerships with Holtec International and Clean Core Thorium Energy.
The SHANTI Act, 2025, removes civil liability concerns, encouraging private sector investment in nuclear energy.
L&T's MoU with Clean Core focuses on thorium-based ANEEL fuel for improved reactor safety and reduced nuclear waste.
The MoU with Holtec targets design and build solutions for heat transfer equipment, including Small Modular Reactor (SMR-300) projects.
L&T expects to gain clarity on collaboration within the next 3-6 months, potentially opening up new business opportunities in the US.
