Centre agrees to shift fence closer to IB
The Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, met with the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, in New Delhi.
They agreed to move the security fence closer to the border with Pakistan.
Right now, the fence is 2 kilometers from the border, and this makes it hard for farmers to reach their land.
By moving the fence to just 300 meters from the border, farmers will have easier access to their fields.
This will help a lot of farmers who have been struggling to take care of their land because of the current fence location.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
The Centre agreed in principle to shift the security fence closer to the International Border.
The current fence is 2 km from the border, trapping thousands of acres of farmland.
The proposed shift to 300 meters from the border will free up farmland for cultivation.
Farmers currently face hardships and need BSF escorts to access their fields beyond the fence.
