Oil became more expensive as countries watched events around Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran also warned that ships near Oman could be attacked.

The United States had reportedly struck Iranian tankers over the weekend.

Inside Iran, people who buy more than 110 litres of gasoline each month will now pay twice as much for extra fuel.

The government said the added money would go to households.

Iranian officials also presented a missile called the Qassem Basir and said Iran might act before a threat happens.

In Lebanon, officials said Israeli attacks killed at least 13 people.
