Trump Approves Sanctions Bill Targeting India, China
President Trump has approved a new bill that could make the US put very high taxes (500% more) on countries like India and China.
These countries are buying oil from Russia, and the US wants to stop this because the money goes to support Russia's war in Ukraine.
The bill was created by two senators, Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal.
They say this will help Ukraine and punish Russia.
The bill might be voted on next week.
Right now, the US already has some taxes on goods from India and China, but this new bill could make those taxes much higher.
Some people think the US is being unfair because it can take oil from other countries like Venezuela but punishes others for trading with Russia.
President Trump approved a bipartisan Russia sanctions bill proposed by Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal.
The bill aims to punish countries like India, China, and Brazil for buying Russian oil, which funds Putin's war in Ukraine.
If passed, the bill could increase US tariffs on these countries by 500% as early as next week.
Current US tariffs on India are at 50% (25% reciprocal + 25% for Russian oil purchases), and on China at 145%.
The bill also proposes banning US exports of energy products to Moscow and investments in Russian energy.
