AI Reshapes Jobs, Sparks New Solo Startups
Artificial intelligence, or AI, can do many jobs that people used to do, like writing reports or coding.
Because of this, big companies are letting some workers go, but at the same time, new people can start their own businesses with very few employees.
Some entrepreneurs use AI to write code, answer questions, and even handle money matters.
This means a single person can run a company that used to need a whole team.
Some experts think this will create many new businesses, while others say it might not change how many people start companies.
The real effect is still being watched.
AI automation has led to layoffs at firms such as Meta, Amazon, Oracle, and Cognizant, but also enables new, low‑resource startups.
Entrepreneurs like Ankur Nigam and Ben Broca have built million‑dollar businesses with virtually no staff, relying on AI for reports, code, and customer support.
CEOs Ken Griffin and Rajeev Rastogi say AI can reproduce complex research in hours and replace manual work, but still require human oversight.
Industry leaders argue AI reduces the cost of execution, allowing solo founders to compete with large incumbents, while some experts doubt it will dramatically increase the number of new startups.
Stripe data shows solo businesses generating over $1 million annually have doubled between 2023 and 2025, and those over $10 million have nearly tripled.
