Sensex and Nifty Rebound as IT Stocks Lead Rally
Indian stocks rose strongly on Friday after falling sharply in recent sessions.
The Sensex and Nifty both gained more than 1%.
Technology shares led the rise, and TCS was among the notable gainers after reporting higher July–September profits.
Shares in several other sectors also advanced, although oil and gas stocks fell in some market reports.
Lower crude prices and investors buying after the recent drop helped sentiment.
One report said the indices ended the week higher, breaking an eight-week losing streak.
Analysts still cautioned that foreign investors were selling and global bond yields remained high.
They said upcoming company results and economic data could help show whether the recovery lasts.
On Friday, the Sensex rose 879.09 points (1.23%) to 72,472.33, and the Nifty gained 288.65 points (1.30%) to 22,520.45.
IT shares led the advance, with the Nifty IT index up about 3%; TCS shares rose after the company reported July–September net profit of ₹13,884 crore.
The rally followed sharp recent losses; one report said the benchmark indices recouped nearly two-thirds of the previous session’s decline.
Reports cited easing crude prices, value buying and short covering as supports; quoted Brent prices ranged from about $102 to $103.25 per barrel.
Analysts called the rebound a relief rally and cautioned that foreign investor outflows and elevated global bond yields could limit a sustained recovery.
