Vijayendra Warns Karnataka Faces A Deepening Fiscal Crisis

B.Y. Vijayendra, a BJP leader in Karnataka, says the state government is facing serious money problems.

He says a recent Finance Department letter shows that the situation is worsening.

Vijayendra claims the government is having difficulty paying salaries, pensions and other bills.

He says welfare guarantee schemes are using money that could go to development projects and farmers.

He wants the government to focus on drought relief, crop-loss payments and help for indebted farmers.

He also criticized plans for an airport and tunnel roads.

The government has planned a special Assembly session about drought, farmer suicides and financial problems.

Vijayendra says immediate action is needed instead of waiting for help from the central government.
