Michael Slater Stripped of Hall of Fame
Michael Slater, a former Australian cricketer, has lost his special honors from Cricket New South Wales.
This includes being removed from the Hall of Fame and losing his life membership.
The decision was made because of his many domestic violence cases.
Since 2016, five women have gotten protection orders against him.
In 2022, he was given a two-year community order for assault and stalking.
Earlier this year, he was sentenced to four years in prison for more serious offenses, like choking a woman.
He was allowed to go free after serving more than a year.
Slater had asked to keep his life membership, but his request was denied.
During his cricket career, he played 74 Test matches and 42 One Day Internationals, scoring over 5,000 runs.
After retiring, he worked as a commentator but lost his job in 2021.
The judge in his trial said he is an alcoholic and his recovery will be hard.
