Nepal Flash Flood Leaves Tourists Using Alternative Routes to Return

A sudden flood hit parts of Nepal and damaged important roads and trails.

Many people visiting Gosaikunda Lake could not return by their usual route.

Some are walking on different trekking trails to get back to Kathmandu.

The flood happened after falling ice and rocks blocked a river.

This caused a very large wave of water to rush through nearby river systems.

Some travelers returning from Kailash Mansarovar had already crossed into China before the flood.

Their travel companies contacted them through local agents in Lhasa.

They will fly from Lhasa to Kathmandu, but the trip will take several more days.

Some future Kailash Mansarovar trips have also been cancelled.
