Ex-Punjab Police IG recovers after self-inflicted gunshot
A former high-ranking police officer named Amar Singh Chahal was very sick because he shot himself in the chest.
Doctors at a hospital in Patiala worked very hard to save him.
They did a big surgery to fix his lung and other injuries.
He lost a lot of blood, but the doctors helped him get better.
He was on a breathing machine for two days and is now eating soft food.
The doctors think he will be completely better in about a week.
The hospital said that bringing him to the hospital quickly was very important for saving his life.
Former Punjab Police IG Amar Singh Chahal survived a self-inflicted gunshot to the chest.
A multidisciplinary medical team performed a complex 3-4 hour surgery to repair lung damage and stabilize chest fractures.
Chahal lost approximately 1.5 litres of blood and was in critical condition upon arrival.
The bullet passed dangerously close to the heart and major blood vessels, making the surgery high-risk.
