Mumbai Lake Water Stock Dips Marginally to 88.76% Despite Rainfall

Mumbai gets its drinking water from seven big lakes.

On August 6, these lakes were 88.76% full.

That was just a tiny bit less full than the day before, a drop of only 0.17 percentage points.

Three of the lakes, Modak Sagar, Vihar and Tulsi, were completely full.

Rain is still falling in the areas that feed the lakes, with Tansa getting the most rain at 51 millimetres in one day.

Even though the lakes are almost full, the city is keeping a 10% water cut for now.

The reason is that the city wants enough water to last until August 2027.

Right now, there is only enough water to last until May 2027.

The water cut was first started in May, when lake levels fell below 8%.
