AP Child Rights Panel Chief Appeals for Public Reporting

The Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Vetukuri A.V.S. Suryanarayana Raju, has asked the public to call the Child Helpline 1098 to report any child rights violations.

He mentioned that the commission has a report on issues like child labour, child marriages, social media addiction, and children being used in crimes.

The report will be given to the state government with suggestions for a state-wide action plan.

Special drives and awareness campaigns will be conducted.

The commission, along with other agencies, will work to rescue child labourers, find missing children, and provide counselling and rehabilitation.

Recently, 17 children were rescued at Vijayawada railway station.

The chairman also talked about problems found during an inspection of the Tribal Girls Gurukul School, including poor food quality, lack of basic amenities, and safety concerns.

The commission has asked officials to keep all student complaints and replace the complaint box with a suggestion box to make students feel safe.
