Nepal Floods Spur Global Aid as Death Toll Nears 800

Severe floods and mudslides hit Nepal near its border with China on August 26.

Nepal says 734 people have died and 2,498 are still missing.

Many roads and bridges were damaged, making rescue work difficult.

Countries including the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, China and Switzerland are helping.

They are sending money, food, shelter supplies, rescue workers and medical experts.

India has also sent equipment to rebuild bridges and restore roads.

The United Nations and Red Cross have released emergency funds and appealed for more support.

Rescue teams are still trying to reach people in the hardest-hit communities.
