EM Bypass Potholes Return, KMC Adopts Paver Blocks
Some roads in Kolkata, like the EM Bypass, have potholes again soon after being fixed.
This makes the roads bumpy and slows down traffic.
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is trying to fix the problem by putting down paver blocks, which are like durable tiles.
The main problem is that water collects on these roads because the underground drainage isn't good enough.
Although paver blocks can help, a construction expert says the real fix is to improve how water drains away.
Potholes have reappeared on EM Bypass, near Ambedkar Bridge.
Service road under Ambedkar Bridge is also in poor condition.
KMC is using paver blocks as a measure to prevent further damage.
Areas near SRFTI and Gariahat ITI are also affected.
Poor drainage is a significant contributor to the problem.
