Haryana Govt Halts Free Internet for Student Tablets
The government is stopping the free internet on the tablets given to older students in Gurgaon and other parts of Haryana.
Before, students in classes 10, 11, and 12 had free internet.
Now, they will need to use their own internet or the school's Wi-Fi.
This change starts on May 25, 2025.
The decision was made because the government doesn't have enough money and the tablets weren't being used very well.
The government also thinks the tablets don't work as well after three years.
There were also worries that some students were not using the tablets for school work.
Students can still use a school-provided internet or their home internet.
The Haryana government will stop providing free internet for student tablets.
The decision impacts students in classes 10, 11, and 12 in Gurgaon and other parts of Haryana.
The change is effective from May 25, 2025.
The initial plan involved 5 lakh tablets and a daily data limit of 2 GB.
Reasons cited include budget constraints and concerns about device performance and misuse.
