Andrew Flintoff Steps Down As England Lions Head Coach
Andrew Flintoff is a very famous cricket player from England.
He played for England's national team and helped them win a big trophy called the Ashes in 2005.
Some years later, he was in a serious car accident while filming a TV show called Top Gear.
After he recovered, he returned to cricket as a coach.
He became the head coach of the England Lions, a special team for young players who are learning to become professionals.
He helped those young players improve and become better cricket stars.
Now, Andrew has decided to leave that coaching job.
He is going to coach a cricket team in Australia called the Sydney Thunder, which plays in a fun competition called the Big Bash League.
Andrew says he cannot wait to start his new job with the Thunder.
Another coach, Mike Yardy, will help lead the young England team in their next match.
Andrew Flintoff has stepped down as head coach of the England Lions, a role he held for nearly two years after his return to cricket.
The 48-year-old was appointed Lions head coach in September 2024 following a serious accident while filming Top Gear.
He will now focus on his new role as head coach of Sydney Thunder in Australia's Big Bash League, a position he took up in June.
ECB performance director Ed Barney credited Flintoff with transforming the Lions environment and bringing forward a new generation of young players.
England Under-19 head coach Mike Yardy will oversee the Lions for their four-day tour match against Pakistan at Beckenham, which Flintoff was originally due to coach.
