Telangana BJP MPs Seek Sainik School Establishment
Imagine a school that helps kids learn discipline and leadership, and prepares them for the army.
Some leaders in Telangana want to build one of these schools, called a Sainik School, in their state.
They say that students from Telangana are not getting a fair chance to go to the Sainik Schools in a neighboring state.
They've asked the government to consider putting this school in a district that could really benefit from it to help kids from those areas.
They hope it will give local kids a better chance to join the armed forces.
Telangana BJP MPs requested the Union minister of state for defense to establish a Sainik School in Telangana.
The MPs cited the cancellation of local quota seats for Telangana students in Andhra Pradesh's Sainik Schools as a reason.
The demand for a Sainik School has support in several districts, including Adilabad, Warangal and Siddipet.
Medak MP Raghunandan Rao had previously written to the defence ministry about the same issue.
MLA Payal Shankar requested the minister to consider Adilabad for the school, citing it is a tribal and backward district.
