Hyderabad Civic Bodies Warn Waste Generators of Possible Utility Cuts

Hyderabad Civic Bodies Warn Waste Generators of Possible Utility Cuts

Some large places in Hyderabad produce a lot of garbage.

These places include hotels, hospitals, schools, hostels, markets and commercial buildings.

They are called bulk waste generators, or BWGs.

New waste rules require them to separate their garbage and manage it properly.

The Supreme Court said authorities must find these places and explain what may happen if they do not follow the rules.

Possible consequences include temporarily stopping their electricity or water supply.

Malkajgiri has identified 986 BWGs, while Cyberabad has identified 1,466.

Malkajgiri officials said they are currently advising establishments and have not issued notices or proposed service suspensions.
