Centre Rejects Punjab's FCI GM Choices
The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, is upset because the central government is appointing an officer from another region to a important job in Punjab.
This job is about managing food supplies, which is very important for Punjab because of its farming and security needs.
Mr. Mann has written a letter to the central government asking them to appoint a local officer instead.
He says that only someone who knows Punjab well can handle the job properly.
The central government has already rejected two lists of local officers suggested by Punjab.
Mr. Mann is worried that this decision might cause problems and is asking the central government to change its mind.
Centre finalizes appointment of a UT-cadre IAS officer as GM for FCI, Punjab.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann writes to Amit Shah objecting to the decision.
Mann argues for a Punjab-cadre IAS officer due to state's unique sensitivities.
Punjab's previous panels of IAS officers for the GM post were rejected by the Centre.
