India Develops Indigenous Ammunition for Bofors Guns
India is making its own bullets for the Bofors guns, which were bought a long time ago.
These new bullets are designed in India and will be made by Indian companies.
There are different types, like ones that explode, make smoke, light up the area, or release small bombs.
The new bullets will travel further than the old ones.
A company is also building a new factory to make these bullets.
The goal is to have all the new bullets ready by 2026.
This means India will be less reliant on getting bullets from other countries and can make them on its own!
India is developing fully indigenous 155mm ammunition for Bofors guns.
The ammunition is designed by ARDE and will be manufactured by YIL and Reliance Infrastructure.
Four indigenous versions of the ammunition have been developed, including high explosive, smoke, illumination, and cargo.
The new design eliminates the need for an additional component, improving range.
Reliance Infrastructure will invest ₹5,000 crore and expects ₹10,000 crore in orders over ten years.
