US Travelers Face REAL ID Deadline for Air Travel
Starting May 7th, if you want to fly in the US, you'll need a special ID or a passport.
This new ID, called REAL ID, meets stricter security rules made after 9/11.
Many states already offer these IDs, marked with a star.
Even though the deadline is near, not everyone has one yet.
Some states have requested more time, but the government says it won't delay.
You don't need it to drive, vote, or get government services.
If you don't fly or go to secure places, you might not need it.

Starting May 7th, US air travelers must have a REAL ID or passport.
REAL ID is a state-issued ID meeting federal security standards.
The initiative stems from a 2005 law enacted after the 9/11 attacks.
Some states have asked for further delays to the implementation date.
The TSA does not intend to delay the implementation of the REAL ID requirement.
