Punjab and Haryana HC Sends Cheque-Bounce Case to Sessions Court
The Punjab and Haryana High Court sent a case about a bounced cheque to a lower court called the Sessions Court.
This is because of a new rule from the Supreme Court that says people who suffer from bounced cheques can appeal directly to the Sessions Court without needing permission from the high court.
A man named Jasvir Singh wanted to appeal because someone named Satpal was found not guilty in a cheque-bounce case.
The high court said that Singh can now take his appeal to the Sessions Court in Panchkula.
The next hearing is scheduled for January 12, 2026.
The high court did not decide on the case itself but sent it to the lower court to handle.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court sent a cheque-bounce case appeal to the Sessions Court in Panchkula.
The appeal was filed by Jasvir Singh against the acquittal of Satpal in a cheque-bounce case.
The high court's decision follows a recent Supreme Court ruling that allows complainants in cheque-bounce cases to appeal directly to the Sessions Court.
The Supreme Court ruled that complainants in cheque-bounce cases are considered victims and can appeal without needing the high court's permission.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for January 12, 2026, in the Sessions Court.
