BJD MLA Suspension Protests and Mahanadi Dispute

In Odisha, supporters of suspended BJD MLAs protested at the party headquarters demanding the revocation of their suspension.

The MLAs, Arvind Mohapatra and Sanatan Mahakud, were suspended for alleged anti-party activities.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government postponed an all-party meeting on the Mahanadi water dispute with Chhattisgarh.

The government asserted its commitment to protecting the river, which is crucial for the state's agriculture and livelihood.

The Mahanadi Bachao Andolan, a group fighting for equitable sharing of the river, demanded the removal of an unauthorised sand bund.

The next hearing of the Mahanadi Water Dispute Tribunal is scheduled for February 7.
