GTA Plans Football Stadium in Kurseong

The Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) is planning to build a football stadium in Kurseong, a beautiful hill town known for its tea plantations.

They are talking to the owners of the Monteviot tea estate to use about 3 acres of land for this project.

The people of Kurseong have been asking for a stadium for a long time, and this is not the first time such a plan has been made.

Earlier attempts in 1976 and during the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha-led GTA did not succeed.

Recently, a group called the Kurseong Stadium Nirman Committee started campaigns to push for the stadium.

They even met with GTA's chief executive Anit Thapa and submitted a request.

Crispin Chettri, the coach of the Indian women’s national football team, who is from Kurseong, also supported the campaign.

Everyone is hopeful that this time, the stadium will finally be built.
