Andhra Election Commission Denies Reports of Local Poll Delay

Andhra Election Commission Denies Reports of Local Poll Delay

The Andhra Pradesh Election Commission said reports about a long delay in local elections are not true.

The reports claimed that two more months were needed before the election schedule could be announced.

They also said the Commission was waiting for court cases about voter lists and reservations.

Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha said these messages were not issued by the Commission.

He asked people and political parties not to share unverified messages.

The official election schedule will be announced through a press release or press conference.

The Commission said people should check its official website before trusting messages from social media or WhatsApp.

The High Court recently dismissed petitions about municipal ward boundaries, clearing an important legal obstacle.

Preparations for rural local body elections are continuing.
