Putin Warns Europe Amid Failed Talks
President Vladimir Putin of Russia warned European countries that if they wanted to go to war with Russia, Russia is ready and the war would end very quickly, leaving no one to talk to.
This warning came after a long meeting between Russia and the United States about ending the war in Ukraine.
The meeting did not make any progress, and both sides are still very far apart.
Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that any solutions must be fair and open.
Russia controls about 19% of Ukraine's territory, but this is not much more than they controlled two years ago.
The war has been going on for almost four years and is the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II.
Putin also said that Europe is blocking peace talks and is on the side of war.
He announced plans to intensify attacks on Ukrainian ports and vessels, calling recent incidents at sea 'piracy'.
Putin warned Europe that Russia is ready for war if Europe chooses escalation.
US-Russia talks on Ukraine peace deal failed to narrow differences after a five-hour meeting.
Russia controls 19% of Ukrainian territory, far short of its broader military aims.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy emphasized the need for transparency in peace talks.
Both sides acknowledged the lack of progress, with no breakthroughs on territorial issues.
