Congress to Contest All Seats in West Bengal
The Indian National Congress (INC) has decided to contest all 294 Assembly seats in West Bengal by itself in the 2026 elections.
The party's leader, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, said that making alliances in the past has made the Congress weaker.
He believes the party should stand on its own to show its strength.
Mr. Mir also talked about how West Bengal was an industrial hub during Congress rule and accused the current government of not having a good plan for the future.
He said the Congress wants to give people a different choice in Bengal.
The party's president in West Bengal, Subhankar Sarkar, was also present at the event where this decision was announced.
The Indian National Congress (INC) will contest all 294 Assembly seats in West Bengal in the 2026 elections.
The party believes that past alliances have weakened its strength and organization.
Congress dismissed speculation of a pre-poll alliance with the CPI-M to counter the TMC and BJP.
The decision to contest all seats independently was driven by the demand from the people of Bengal.
The party accused the current TMC government of lacking vision and harming industrial growth in the state.
